Meet our Recruitment Team

 Dustin Ballinger
Dustin Ballinger MSN, RN Clinical Recruiter Specialist
I’m Dustin Ballinger MSN, RN Clinical Recruiter Specialist. I have been with UTMC since 2007. The University of Toledo has given me many unique opportunities. My adventure began as a Nursing Assistant in the Intermediate Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) then a position as a Registered Nurse and on to Charge Nurse. I enrolled in a graduate program to advance my degree and obtained my Masters Of Nursing as Nurse Educator. I sought an educator opportunity to become a Staff Development Specialist and drove education initiatives for the Step-Down level of care at UTMC. I was placed on a new committee focused on Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) and I evolved into a key contributor to that program. I fell in love with the cardiac population and moved into a leadership position as Operations Supervisor for the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) and we began working towards our Advanced Heart Failure Accreditation. I eventually became Nursing Director of the CVU and worked closely with Cardiologists and Cardiothoracic Surgeons to open a Universal Bed Unit that accepted both intensive care and step-down patients. After a few years of ICU projects, I transferred to Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). In the MICU we care for trauma, neurology, medical, and now cardiothoracic patients.
